Lost Knowledge is Michael Trenfield & Nick Jay.

    Michael Trenfield

Michael, from Tamworth, United Kingdom, was roughly 7 years old when he first discovered his musical talent. His dad had bought his mom a keyboard for Christmas and they learned to play songs together, while his dad was playing one side his mom played on the other. Within a couple of weeks Michael had learned to play both sides by himself. His parents then put him in for keyboard lessons, which he took for 6 years, taking part in various competitions and winning an award for best under 12 year old. By the time he reached 13 he decided to pick up a guitar. His auntie showed him some basic chords and a few weeks later Michael could play "Oasis" and "Don't look back in anger" fluently. Until the age of 16, he also learned tiny bits of other instruments including bass guitar, harmonica and drums. Michael was also involved in a band, first as the bass player, then as lead guitarist where he did various gigs around the UK. After getting into trance in 1999 and being a huge lover of the scene, he decided to start producing with a basic looping program, finally moving on to better software two years later as he stared to take things more professionally.

    Nick Jay

Nick, from Sydney, Australia, however, hated music when he was growing up and dropped out of compulsory music classes in high school. It wasn't until the age of 17 that he started having a real taste for dance music. One night after going to a club with some friends and being disappointed with the skills of the DJ, he got himself some decks and constantly practiced mixing until he got it right, scoring residencies in clubs, playing top 40 club remixes. It wasn't until 1997 that he started getting into the more serious side of music and moving towards uplifting trance anthems. Some of the major parties he has under his belt include "Gatecrasher", "God's Kitchen" "Ignition" and the "Ruby" parties in Sydney. In 2000, he started moving into the production side of things by doing mash-up bootleg mixes, re-works, then moving onto remixing and also doing collaborations with other people. His main style today is very versatile, playing trance, funky house, and progressive house; sometimes even playing top 40 club remixes (some things just never change).

2004 was when Nick and Michael teamed together to form Lost Knowledge working on a number of tracks with vocalist's Matt Lorentzen, Raymond Issac, and US based vocalist Karen Ires with a lot more to come. Now signed to Amathus Music, they prove to be in their prime as the young duo shows the world they got what it takes with undeniable talent and drive in their music.

Matt Lorentzen, featured in Lost Knowledge's debut single "Hazard", is no stranger when it comes to singing, writing and producing. His collaboration with Lost Knowledge is just a taste of what is to come. With original tracks already in production and being tested in clubs around the globe, Matt is looking forward to soon showcasing his live talents on the international dance party circuit.
