Degrees Of Motion are a NY based group conceived and created in 1991 by producer / remixer Richie Jones as his debut production project. The group achieved both underground cult status and mainstream commercial success almost immediately with their first single "Do You Want It Right Now" which entered the DMC Buzz Chart at #1 as a US import and spent no less than four weeks at the top of the Record Mirror Club Chart. The second single "Shine On" enjoyed similar success at both the club and commercial levels as well. Both "Do You Want It Right Now" and "Shine On" are considered "Classic Club Anthems". Legendary UK DJ and A&R man Pete Tong licensed the self-titled debut album in 1992 for release on London Records FFRR imprint in the UK. The album was also licensed and released by Capitol Records (Canada), Sony Music (Japan) and distributed by BMG in the US. Featured performers included vocalist Biti Strauchn, rapper Kit West, reggae toaster Balli Legend and vocalist Mariposa. Richie has since only recorded two songs under the Degrees Of Motion alias, "Celebrate" which originally appeared on a Hed Kandi compilation in 2005 and a cover of the Glenn Jones soul classic "Show Me" which was originally released on the Phase Deux Musiq label in 2008.
