Space Nuggets

Ever since the U.S. dance group Space Nuggets formed in 2000, their ambition was clear: to present their own iconoclastic twist to the U.S. dance music scene. This unique group, and their fun-loving over-the-top take on dance music, has become a staple among the club scene in the New York Tri-State area.

The Nugget's exaggeratedly fun and out-of-the-box style has been gaining a strong cult following. They are adamant that they do not follow the formulas, often fusing techno, trance, chunky house beats and even classical within their own musical universe. One listen to any Nugget track will certainly demonstrate that they are not afraid to take chances and push the envelope - often raising eyebrows in the process.

Space Nugget's have released several singles through Waako Records and ZYX Music in Germany. Their first release, "Mountain King", emerged from the Edvard Greig classical favorite, substituting the violins and oboes with 909 drums and vicious synth lines. A fan favorite, this track has been blowing up in clubs from Ibiza to NYC since its release in 2001. They then released "Grazin" and "Triple X" which further pushed the boundaries of trance and techno music, increasing their credibility in prominent clubs all over the world. In 2004, they dropped the controversial concept track, "Crash Landing", an edgy hard-nosed single that did very well in the European market.

Their latest release "The Power" fuses breakbeat and house music, emphasizing a slightly more radio-friendly version of the Nuggets. This track showcases a hooky, more commercial side of the group. "The Power" also comes with a 4-to-the-floor dance remix by the DJG Crew.

To quote the Space Nuggets themselves: "We are slaves to our intuition. The day we start conforming to the expectations of others is the day we call it quits."
